Klara got exactly $100 for her birthday this year. My plan was to save it for her because let’s be real, we have too many toys and very little space. But earlier this week she said the words my mama heart have longed to hear. “Mama, can I get my ears pierced?” Y’all, as soon as we found out we were having a girl I envisioned earrings, hair bows, tutus, dresses, pearls, glitter, pink, and painted little toes. My husband though, he REFUSED to get her ears pierced when she was a baby. He was a thief of joy. So I asked Klara, “Would you be willing to spend your birthday money on that, is it THAT special to you?” Without hesitation she said, “YES!”
I was so excited all week, crossing my fingers that she didn’t change her mind because her dad was trying every excuse he could think of to get her to back out. “Klara, you don’t want to do that. It will hurt SO bad.” “You’re beautiful just how you are.” “You know how they pierce ears? With sharp needles.” Like I said, a thief of joy. 🙄
Our plan was to go on Friday because Klara doesn’t have school, but when I called our local Claire’s, they told me that after 1pm there would be enough employees for her to have both ears pierced at the same time whereas on Friday, she couldn’t promise that it would work out that way.
I grabbed Klara a snack for the car and as soon as she got off the bus we were on our way! Hardly any tears were shed and she even got a cute crown. Seriously, those bangs and those earrings with the cute sequin skirt she wore to school today is a CUTENESS OVERLOAD.

She wanted to go ahead and spend the rest of her birthday money while we were there because Claire’s has all the cute things, duh. She picked out the CUTEST “bff” keychains, one for her and one for her best friend, Sarah. She picked out a few pairs of earrings for when her ears are all healed and the sweetest platypus that she hasn’t put down all evening.

We won’t talk about how my husband handled the pierced ears. 😬🤭🤷♀️

Those earrings look good on you, girl
