My Favorite Products for Curly Hair

Where are all my people with curly hair at?! When I was growing up, my hair was nothing but spiral curls. I’m talking 3c type of curls. It was super thick and poofy, and set me apart from everyone. I wanted the flat straight hair that all the other girls had. We would get permanent straighteners put in my hair to try to relax the curls, but it never seemed to work. Isn’t it funny how we want what we don’t have? Now, as a woman in my 30’s, I would love to have those spiral curls back.

My hair started to change as I got older and after each one of my pregnancies, it seemed to get thinner and less curly. My curls have went from 3c to more of a 3a.

Today I’m sharing my favorite products that I’ve been using a lot lately. Is it just me or do you feel like once you’ve used a product for so long that your hair just stops responding to it? I’m constantly having to switch things up. These products range in price, with my all-time favorite mousse costing just $2.97 at Wal-Mart to one of my favorite curl cremes priced at $32 at Ulta.

First up, I’m a big fan of the Coconut Curls products. I personally prefer the styling milk over the mousse, but the mousse does a great job at keeping my curls from becoming frizzy in the summer humidity. The cream is much more lightweight and not as sticky.

This Herbal Essences mousse is my absolute favorite mousse. It’s just $2.97 at Wal-Mart. It’s very lightweight and doesn’t have the sticky consistency that the Coconut Curls mousse has. It doesn’t have a stiff hold that you get with a lot of products and makes my curls look beautiful. 10/10 recommend.

The Strictly Curls curl cream is another one of my favorites. I’m not crazy about the smell, but the consistency is perfect. A little bit goes a long way with all of the Strictly Curls products so you definitely get your moneys worth.

I received the Ouai curl creme through one of my beauty subscriptions and I loved everything about it. The packaging, the smell, and the product itself was incredible. It left my curls feeling super soft and didn’t leave a greasy feel that some curl creams do.

Briogeo Curl Charisma is one of the best products I’ve ever used. It leaves my curls defined, shiny, and so smooth. I highly recommend this one, too.

Lately I’ve been using a lot of Marc Anthony’s Grow Long products. I love this leave in conditioner/detangler. I really like the smell and, just like the Strictly Curls products, this goes a long way. It only takes a couple sprays to cover my long, elbow length hair.

What is your hair type and what are some products you couldn’t live without?
