Summer Bucket List: Week One

Being on the same schedule as our kids and having summers off with them is the biggest blessing. I worked the month of June and participated in a summer program that our schools are offering to help fill the learning gaps that resulted from virtual learning this school year, but I chose not to work the month of July. Starting July 1st, we started checking things off our summer bucket list.

Day 1: Pancakes and Pajamas

I woke the kids up at 6 a.m. and we went out for breakfast in our pajamas.

Day 2: Road Trip and Donuts

We spent the morning in Asheville and picked up Duck Donuts. Our most recent Trader Joe’s haul will be posted soon!

Day 3: Family Tournaments and Soda Floats

This was such a fun day! We spent the day swimming and ordered pizza for dinner. We had a family cornhole tournament followed by a Mario Kart tournament. We made soda floats with all the toppings and laughed until our bellies hurt.

By the way, how awesome are these homemade cornhole boards my husband made?

Day 4: Backyard Cookout and Fireworks

I wish I would have taken more pictures, but we celebrated the 4th by grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. We played cornhole and swam all afternoon.

Day 5: Sonic Slushes

We are always at Sonic getting drinks, so we made sure that Sonic had its own special day on our bucket list. If I’m honest, I knew I wanted to plan something simple the day after the Fourth of July because I knew we would be exhausted.

Day 6: Picnic Lunch and Putt Putt

The kids chose Burger King for our picnic and then we played putt putt. They kept talking about how much fun they had and have been asking to go back so if ya ask me, putt putt was a WIN!

Day 7: Visit the Zoo

This is my all-time favorite zoo. It isn’t too far away, the prices are reasonable, they have a wide variety of animals, it isn’t crowded, they have great food, extraordinary employees, and it is BY FAR the cleanest zoo I have ever been to in my life. It was such a fun day!

I am so excited to spend the rest of the month crossing things off our bucket list! Do you have a summer bucket list?

  1. Was that BACON on those donuts?! Those all look crazy good.
I’m sure you and your kids are creating really special memories this summer. I don’t have a bucket list for us, per se, but I’m adding as many fun things into our days as possible. 😀

    1. Yes! Those are their maple bacon donuts and they’re our absolute favorite! If you ever visit a Duck Donuts, you have got to give it a try. We were skeptical at first, but now we drive over an hour just to have one. I hope you all have the BEST summer!
