Baseball Mom Necessities

I love baseball season. The hot nights and ballpark lights, nachos and hot dogs, peanuts and Cracker Jacks.

This year Kylan made the all-star team following the regular season. This was our first year playing baseball in Bristol so the all-star team was new to us. Thirteen boys ages 9-10 and thirteen boys ages 11-12 were selected by each player in the league to participate in the all-star team this year. The top thirteen for each age group were chosen and Kylan was so excited when he found out he made the team!

When we attended the first meeting, the parents that had participated in all-stars the previous year warned us that it would be intense. We had practice every day except on Sunday and had two practices 4 days a week. It took dedication, but I can see so much improvement in Kylan’s performance.

I am by no means a baseball mom veteran. In fact, this was our first experience with traveling out of town for games. All of our games have always been at the same field so this was a new experience for us. We did, however, luck up and get to know a true baseball mom veteran and her husband through football last year when we first moved to Virginia. She set the bar high when she showed up with citronella candles to keep the bugs away and a sharpie to label the kids drinks. She was beyond prepared and saved our butts with their canopy tent. It was 96 degrees our first game and no shade anywhere. She’s the real deal.

From our all-star baseball experience, here are the absolute necessities you will need:

  • Cooler
  • Chairs
  • Misting fan
  • Team t-shirt
  • Waterproof blanket (for the kids to sit on)
  • Canopy tent
  • Bug spray
  • Window chalk (to show your team spirit)
  • Cracker Jacks
  • Sunglasses and strap
  • Wet Ones

For your player

  • Uniform | Jersey, belt, socks, hat, cleats

(You would be surprised how many times Kylan almost forgot his belt or cup)

  • Bag with glove, bats, extra balls
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Sunscreen
  • Protein bars
  • Water bottle
  • Cooling towel
  • Gatorades

What are some of your must-have items for game days?
