He Is Risen

Our family had a weekend full of fun, faith, food and family. Good Friday marked the first day of spring break for the boys and made for a 3 day weekend with Jordan! He has had his hands full working on his car from early morning until late at night so I kept the kids entertained by going shopping, having pictures made with the Easter bunny, making nachos, coloring Easter eggs, and having a movie night with popcorn and Easter candy.

On Saturday we went to Jordan’s parents’ house. The weather was so beautiful. Jordan and I sat on the deck and ate while the kids hid Easter eggs.

On my plate I had a bbq sandwich, potato salad, deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and fruit. Then I ate about 3 cupcakes too many.

Since it was the day before Easter, I didn’t want the kids to wear their nice clothes so I made the boys comfortable, but festive, shirts to wear.

After making their shirts, I kept itching to make one for me as well and used lyrics from my favorite song.

We stayed at Jordan’s parents’ house until it was time for baseball practice that evening. The kids love spending time with Mema and Dinky.

Baseball practice was from 8 until 10pm so we were all exhausted by the time we got home.

The next morning we woke up to goodies from the Easter bunny!

That afternoon we visited with my papaw. He has the perfect yard for hiding Easter eggs and it’s always fun hanging out at his house for awhile. The kids can drink all the soda they want when they’re there. Papaw said so.

Talking with the kids about the true meaning of Easter is always the most important part of the holiday for me. I hope that as they get older, their hearts feel as full as mine when they reflect on Good Friday and Easter and what Jesus went through for you and me. I know that I am a sinner, worthy only of death. Yet He loves me and willingly died a terrible death for me. Because of that, all of my sins have been paid for. I have the assurance of heaven by faith and His grace alone. Oh, how I love Jesus.
