Easter Basket Ideas

Easter is my favorite holiday! Baskets, chocolate bunnies, coloring eggs and spring weather– but most importantly because He is risen!

I love putting together Easter baskets. It’s definitely on my list of top 10 favorite things. Here are our kids baskets from last year. Nothing too fancy, but I loved how they turned out!

I’ve put together a few of my favorite things for our kiddos Easter baskets to share with you today.

For our 10 year old sports loving guy, we always add a shirt and socks. It’s officially baseball season so I love the idea of the baseball bat and chewing gum. Some Easter candy, a devotional and a study bible really top it off. Some other ideas include a sports magazine, a gift card, a movie, a sports bottle with a packet of Gatorade mix inside, beef jerky, an XBOX game, sports cards, deodorant or cologne.

For our daughter I love adding a touch of pink. Chalk, gummies and Easter books are a few of my favorite things. Play-doh eggs and a unicorn cup are a must for her basket this year! She is getting ready to start soccer so this pink soccer bag would come in handy to carry her ball, water bottle, cleats and shin guards. Some other good ideas for a little girls basket is jewelry, a headband, a pair of sandals, a new dress, stickers, nail polish, crayons or stuffed animal.

For our 8 year old autistic son, I have included some of his favorite things. When you think autistic, you may think limitations or restrictions. Our son is categorized as high-functioning so there aren’t many restrictions for his basket. Rather than focusing on things that may be too overwhelming for him such as toys with strong smells, things of certain textures, etc. I just focus on what he loves. He loves Tinker Toys and they allow him to use his motor skills. They are an educational and really fun toy. The same thing goes for the time and money flash cards. He’s learning about money in his second grade math class and is so eager to do his homework every evening. He loves flip flops and Pete the Cat, as well as M&M’s and Reese Pieces. I chose headphones for him because he loves his tablet time. He watches videos about the solar system, dinosaurs and fossils and is so interested in learning new things. The outer space bible would be a huge hit with him! Some other ideas for a child with special needs might include some fidget toys such as a fidget spinner, cube, or a sensy band from Target.

I will be sharing some of my favorite Easter crafts, decor, and even my favorite Easter candy as we head into April.
